RESIDENTS are encouraged to roll up their sleeves for the Australian Red Cross donor recruitment campaign Operation Lifeblood.
Flinders MP Greg Hunt has backed the campaign which will run over the next three months.
As the convenor for the parliamentary Friends of Red Cross, Mr Hunt urged local residents to consider giving blood.
“If you have ever thought about giving blood, then now is the time to do it,” Mr Hunt said.
“One in three people will need blood in their lifetime but only one in 30 people actually give blood. “Every time you give blood, you can save up to three lives.”
“Blood donations are also used for premature babies, expectant mums, burn victims, trauma and emergency purposes,” he said.
