Signs to reduce road danger

NEW signs have been installed to warn motorists of the muchdiscussed danger intersection at Officer.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said the flashing traffic light sign would advise motorists to prepare to stop.
The sign is the latest in a package of road safety treatments to be introduced in response to community concerns about safety at the intersection of Princes Highway, Station Street and Tivendale Road.
Ms Lobato said other measures included a lower speed limit and improvements to the timing of existing pedestrian signals at the intersection to allow people more time to cross the highway.
Officer residents have campaigned strongly for traffic lights to be installed at the intersection labelled a potential killer by townspeople and Opposition MPs.
Ms Lobato said the State Government had delivered the measures which it said were ‘most appropriate’.
“I feel confident that safety and traffic flow will be improved,” she said.
