Bulls charge forward

BAW Baw Bulls had a big win State League men’s competition after Ken Farmer scored his second hattrick in two matches.

MEN’S STATE LEAGUE 4

In round two the Baw Baw State League side faced Melton away and had a resounding 71 victory. The Bulls showed great teamwork and discipline early, linking up well through the midfield and had some strong finishing. Recruits Pete McKinsley and Andrew Glazzard created plenty of drive through the middle. The Bulls were again efficient at converting in front of goal and at halftime with a commanding 50 lead.
After the break, the Bulls’ trademark sharp possession game fell down somewhat and Melton converted one of its three short corners to take the score to 51. The Bulls managed to pull it together again through hard work by Joe Sutton and Luke Bates and put on another two goals. Ken Farmer was in devastating form again with another hattrick, which made him topscorer of the division with eight goals from two rounds.
Scores: Baw Baw 7 d Melton 1.

WOMEN’S STATE LEAGUE 4

Scores: Baw Baw 5 d Collegians 3.

UNDER 17 GIRLS A

Baw Baw played magnificently against Waverley and was unlucky to lose. Fielding a 3331 lineup and with no interchanges, Baw Baw played aggressively and repulsed numerous Waverley attacks.
Waverley staggered on many occasions and were lucky to score when a shot on goal hit the bar and barely bounced over the line. Numerous Baw Baw attacks on goal narrowly missed and left their opponents arguing. In only their second game in A grade, with several players in new positions, the Baw Baw players stood their ground against their older and more experienced opponents.
Scores: Waverley 1 d Baw Baw 0.

UNDER 13 PENNANT SOUTH

The young Bulls played a great team game against Mentone. Liz and Kate Christian played their first games this season and did well. Andrew Bloomfield played Goalkeeper this week and did a great job. Michael Kramer was the first to score off a pass from Jesse Ward. Matt Zurrer showed some great ball skills to move upfield and enabled Keisha Leggett to score. At half time, the score was 31.
The defenders did a great job to clear the ball every time Mentone attacked in the second half.
Scores: Baw Baw 9 d Mentone 1.
Goals: Sam Lodge, Keshia Leggett, Matt Zurrer 2, Michael Kramer, Jesse Ward, Sara Howard 1.
