NEW Victorian Liberal leader Ted Baillieu and Bass MP Ken Smith will be meeting with Cardinia Shire Council later this month to assess and discuss the development and future of Pakenham.
“I think it’s important they have an opportunity to tell him the needs of the municipality,” Mr Smith said.
The 26 May visit comes after Mr Smith was retained as the shadow gaming, fisheries and secretary of the Liberal Party when Mr Baillieu announced his shadow cabinet on 12 May.
“I was hoping I was doing well enough to keep it and I am very pleased,” Mr Smith said.
Mr Smith will also accompany the recently appointed state Liberal leader to Nar Nar Goon chicken farms to discuss problems and issues in the local chicken industry.
Mr Smith said he has worked with Mr Baillieu since the 2002 election, and believes that the latest changes to the shadow cabinet are sure to make the Liberal Party in Victoria stronger.
“Ted will be terrific. He will lead us to victory at the next election,” Mr Smith said.
Mr Baillieu said he has high expectations of his newly elected cabinet.
“We have a very focused team. I have high expectations from each and every one of them.
“We’re already working very hard on the issues of importance to all Victorians,” Mr Baillieu said.
