SATURDAY was a day of top scoring at Drouin Golf Club, with two sizzling Stableford rounds.
First was Mick Rose, who parred the course off his eight handicap to win A grade with 44 points, then Craig Armstrong (handicap 28) blitzed the Cgrade field with an amazing 48 points.
Runner up in A grade was Jason Brain (40 points) followed by Brett Dessent (38), Phil Adams (37) and Paul Matthews (37).
Cgrade runnerup was Greg Smyth (41 points) on a countback from Derek Anderson and Wayne English.
Jack Gardiner snuck over the line in B grade with 38 points from runnerup Michael Sullivan 36. Jack Gough was next on 35.
Nearest to pins – second: Jim McCormack, fifth: Phil Adams, 19th: Rod Hammond, 23rd (pro pin): Doug Scott.
Jason Brain (seventh hole) and Paul Matthews (21st) both had eagles.
Balls went down to 36 on a countback and the CCR was 71.
MIDWEEK RESULTS
There were 99 players in the Stableford competition and Darren Adams (six) showed great form to win A grade with 41 points.
Runnerup was Mick Whitford (39 points) from Rolf Loebert (38) and Brad Bennett (37).
Les Madden won B grade on a countback from Alan Wilson with 37 points.
Lloyd Mareska, Shane Golding and Bob Ramage all returned with 35.
Merv Peel (handicap 22) won C grade with a steady 37 points from runnerup Alan Fagan 34.
Nearest to pins – second: Wayne Duckett, 19th: Tex Devlin, 23rd (pro pin): Brad Bennett.
Balls went down to 34 on a countback and the CCR was 73.
THURSDAY RESULTS
Val Johnson won the ladies seniors’ ninehole competition with 15 points.
Con Norris, George Connor and Charlie Hardy all tied on 18 points in the men’s section.
Max Johnson and Les Madden tied with 18 points each last Monday.
‘TASTY’ MEDAL DAY
A new innovation at the club for each monthly medal day will start this Saturday. Finger food and happy hour drinks will be available from 5pm.
LADIES
Last Tuesday was a stroke event and the third round of the silver spoon. The CCR was 77 nett.
Barbara from Daydreams Salon and Day Spa was thanked for sponsoring the event.
It was also the playoff for the May monthly medal between Irene Morgan and Nerida Hammond.
Irene won the medal and the second round of the silver spoon with a score of 78 nett.
The Agrade winner and winner of the third round silver spoon was Shirley Todd with 77 nett.
The runnerup was Irene Morgan on a countback.
The Bgrade winner was Fay Downward with 80 nett and the runnerup was Val Johnson with 82 nett on a countback.
Downtheline balls went to Di Sullivan 78 nett, Leeanne Planck 79 nett, Margaret Purcell 80 nett and Ethel Manley 80 nett.
Nearest the pin on the 14th was Jill Brenchley. No one claimed the second and the propin was won by Judy Bibby.
SILVER SALVER WINNER
The Drouin silver salver was contested on 19 May and the Drouin team of Margaret Mitchem, Jill Brenchley and Joyce Pierrehumbert won the title with a total score of 101 points.
PENNANT RESULTS
Division one pennant team had a bye, division two defected Moe 5/2 and division three defeated Moe 4/1.
Divisions one and two are now in the finals.
THURSDAY RESULTS
The ninehole seniors’ competition was won by Val Johnson, 15 points, runnersup were Jill Brenchley 14, heather Fitzpatrick and Jenny Snape both on 12 points.

This week is the Eileen Smith fourballbestball Stableford and next week, 6 June will be stroke, the June monthly medal, first round club championship, first round Edna Cropley trophy and the third round of the John Arnold memorial trophy.
