Goon wins five

NAR Nar Goon welcomed Kooweerup at the weekend and all but one Goon team won.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:A GRADE

The Goon settled early into a steady and strong game with the defence end playing extremely tight. Accurate goaling from Meg Evans and Sam Cox for four quarters was pleasing. Strong passages of play throughout the court gave Nar Nar Goon an increased lead at every change.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 64 d Kooweerup 38.
Best: Meg Evans, Stacey Cooper.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:B GRADE

After a slow start the Goon was six goals down in the first quarter. But in the third Erin Murphy shot 14 goals to put the Goon three goals in front and the Goon held this lead despite a tough tussle. The defenders in particular played well. Cassa Fry did well in her first game in B grade.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 32 d Kooweerup 29.
Best: Raynie Armstrong, Michelle Collins.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:C GRADE

After a slow first quarter the Goon settled down and managed to be competitive against Kooweerup for the remaining quarters. The defenders played an excellent game against much taller opponents. Leara Keysers was best on court for her great defensive game. Meaghan Douglas came up from the under 15s to fill in and played well.
Scores: Kooweerup 39 d Nar Nar Goon 13.
Best: Leara Keysers.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:17 AND UNDER

Nar Nar Goon controlled the game from the start with Prue Evans goaling superbly. Sarah Van Boxtel and Sinead Scanlon also rotated through goals, doing well. The Goon defence was strong throughout, taking many intercepts and keeping Kooweerup’s goaling opportunities to a minimum.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 37 d Kooweerup 11.
Award: E & C Joinery Prue Evans.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:15 AND UNDER

After three quarters of going goalforgoal Nar Nar Goon took control and stepped up its defensive play in the last quarter. Ashlee Dore and Meaghan Douglas worked beautifully in the ring and Jenna Noonan and Hannah Sweeney controlled play. Georgia Keysers, Haley Dore and Jodie Van Boxtel pressured their attackers in a well deserved win in a tight game.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 28 d Kooweerup 19.
Award: Gloria Jean’s Georgia Keysers.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:13 AND UNDER

The team was determined to get back on the winners’ board and played an excellent defensive game. The Goon was competitive throughout and Belinda Kerr starred in the midcourt.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 18 d Kooweerup 15.
Best: Belinda Kerr
Award: Most determined Hannah Carney.
