Straight wins for Bulls

IN ROUND eight every team came away with a win. The men’s State League and under13 sides continued their dominance while the under17 boys’ win brought them closer to the four.
The under17 girls sat just outside the four in a competitive A Grade.

In round eight Baw Baw continued its winning ways against one of the bottom sides AjaxMaccabi, though it was very much a game of two halves.
Early the Bulls looked to have control and moved the ball confidently around their home turf and soon found themselves comfortably ahead 30. The Bulls’ marking was poor and the usually strident team game was lacking. This allowed a few chances for Ajax and Baw Baw went to halftime only one goal up.
Baw Baw came out and scored six unanswered goals in the second period. The midfield were back in control and dominating.
The forwards, especially rising stars Matt Goetz, Luke Bates and Dan Mackinnon were ferocious and unrelenting.
These younger players showed great maturity and discipline, constantly winning penalty corners and frustrating the opposition back line.
When the dust settled, the Bulls left the field with a 92 victory and a strong sense of momentum to take them into a challenging period.
Scores: Baw Baw 9 d Ajax 2.

The match between Brunswick and the young Bulls began at a frantic pace but it wasn’t long before Chris Miles found the back of the net for the Bulls’ first goal.
The second was drilled from the top of the circle by Dan Mackinnon and the next by Chris Weller put the Bulls 30 up at halftime.
Matt Goetz put in the Bulls’ fourth goal in the second half and a fine save on a penalty stroke by goalkeeper, Michael Nocentini, kept Brunswick off the scoreboard.
Scores: Baw Baw 4 d Brunswick 0.
