IT was a long wait, but worth it for Beaconhills Country Golf Club member Jim Parker last Saturday week.
After being a member for almost 15 years, he won his first monthly medal and B grade with a plusfour in the Par event on the Lakes Course.
Agrade winner was David Coates with plustwo and C grade was won by junior Alex Tribuiani, also with plustwo.
On the Old course Rob Hodges was the winner of the day with square.
In the junior competition Matt Otten was the winner with nett 30.
SUNDAY COMPETITION
Sunday August 7 was also a Par competition on the Lakes course and the Agrade winner was Mark Johnston with plusfive which was the same winning score for Rob Dickinson in B grade.
TUESDAY COMPETITION
Play reverted back to the old course on Tuesday August 9 and Sven Riisik was the winner of the day with 38 points while Adrian Dearden was the runnerup on a countback with 37 points.
LADIES
In bitterly cold conditions the ladies played on Wednesday in a Stableford competition on the Old course.
Lee James followed up her Winter Cup victory with a win, scoring 33 points.
Nearestthepin winners were Mary Griffin on the sixth and Gillian Lewis on the 15th while Marg Rice won the Bgrade propin.
The ladies had just settled in front of the fire when it began to snow at the club, a sight not seen in many years.
THURSDAY COMPETITION
There were 40 brave players that entered the competition.
The cold conditions did not stop the good scoring at the top with Terry Crowe winning the day on a countback from Doug Rowe with 39 points.
PRIMARY SCHOOL CHAMPS
Friday was a qualifying event for the 2005 Logical Staffing Victorian Primary Schools Golf Championships at Beaconhills.
Eight boys qualified including locals Leigh Pritchard (Haileybury Edrington Campus) 47, Callum Stephenson (Beaconsfield PS) 53, Alistair Conn (Upper Beaconsfield PS) 54, Nicholas Fisher (Beaconsfield PS) 56, Samuel Marinelli (St. Catherine’s PS) 58, Liam Mackin and Jack Jenkins (both from The Patch) with 63.
Two girls also qualified including locals Hollie Bowebank (Berwick PS) 56 and Lauren Hudswell (Beaconhills) 70.
These qualifiers will now head to Ranfurlie Golf Course, Cranbourne to play in the regional final on 13 September.
