WINDERMERE Child and Family Services auxiliary members are working to support the 2006 Gown of the Year Award to be held at Rembrandts on Tuesday, 1 August.
Auxiliary president Fay Powel said new season fashions from big names such as Wayne Cooper, Lisa Ho, Ikira Isogawa and Collette Dinnigan would be previewed.
Mrs Powel said the lunch had become a tradition for many women and was an important fundraiser.
“But we need more younger people to help us. Most of the fashions are for the younger group,” she said.
Money from the event will go to help the Kids Becoming Champions program.
This is intensive work with disadvantaged children.
Each child is assigned a caseworker, mentor, tutor, health worker and counsellor to ensure he or she gets a fighting chance to realise their potential.
The program is not funded and relies entirely on the community for support.
Tickets for the Gown of the Year Award lunch are available from Kathryn King on 9705 3200.
