Moe v Garfield

Garfield: The tenacity and endeavour shown by players such as Ryan Munro, Shaun Pickering, Dean MacFarlane and coach Ben Soumilas has given most opponents a hard way to go this season.
Moe: Moe moves the ball off halfback well through playmaker Peter Ainsworth and also has good running players like Gary Blandford and youngster Brad Wedrowicz, fed by inform ruckman Chris Hancock.

Garfield: He has progressed from a strength to the key in two weeks. Stars ruckman Tom Marsh has become one of the most important players to his side this year and, if he can control the air again, Garfield will go close to winning.
Moe: It has been said before, but the Lions’ mental attitude is the key to their performance week in, week out. Last week’s loss was severe and coach Lachlan Sim must find a way to put that out of their minds on Saturday.

Garfield: Who will line up on Moe star Dean Caldow if he plays? Caldow was a late withdrawal last weekend and is the one playmaker who must be kept quiet if Garfield is to win.
Moe: Where are the Lions’ goals going to come from? Last week they managed only four majors against Sale and, unless they find a consistent avenue to goals, victory this week will be a battle.

Garfield: Young gun forward Stuart Edwards. The former Longwarry junior has shown plenty recently and, while not yet physically imposing, his courage is unquestionable and he might be the difference between the sides around goals.
Moe: The effect that star Moe rover Chris Smogavec’s 200th game celebration will have on his teammates. The effort will no doubt have just a little more zip in an attempt to get the side over the line for the popular and loyal clubman.

This is a big one for the Stars and very winnable on last week’s form. The Lions’ home advantage will mean little given that Garfield are nomads this season and the young Stars are tipped to triumph by three goals.
