UP TO 1000 pets in Cardinia Shire are unregistered.
This was revealed in council’s latest quarterly report, released on Monday.
Local laws staff said there were a further 3445 pets registered during the last financial year.
Council officers believe many of the unregistered animals have either died or are no longer in the area.
