CASEY and Cardinia restaurants have strongly supported the 2006 Choice Awards.
Restaurants from across the two municipalities have entered the competition.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the community had a good understanding of the importance of a healthy, affordable diet and it was fantastic to see food outlets and restaurants in Casey and Cardinia getting on board by supporting the Choice Award program.
He said winning a Choice Award showed customers that the restaurateurs cared about their health and were proud of the food they offered.
“Choice Award winners are recognised as leaders committed to excellence in nutrition, food handling and affordability of food.”
Choice Award is an initiative between the City of Casey, Cardinia Shire Council and CardiniaCasey Community Health Service, which aims to improve the eating patterns and accessibility to healthy food for residents of the two municipalities.
“The award recognises that food premises play an important role in promoting good health through providing safe, nutritious and affordable food,” Cr Bradford said.
Winners will be announced in September.
