A THIRDquarter lapse proved costly for Catani on Saturday and the Blues went down to Nyora by 53 points.
In the wet and slippery conditions of the first half, Catani matched its opponents as both sides battled hard to win the ball.
Scoring became difficult and at halftime only a goal separated the sides.
With the rain stopping during the break, it was Nyora that got its game going in the third term, scoring a number of unanswered goals and building up a winning lead by threequarter time.
The final term had the Blues putting up a better contest, but they were were unable to make up any ground.

Catani failed to score the win it needed to remain in the top six, going down to Nyora by 39 points.
The Blues started well by scoring the first goal, but then fell away and were outplayed.
There were good signs for Catani, George Zekic, returning from injury, being named as best, with other better players being Ryan Kitchin, Luke McMillan, Ben Nobelius and Craig Fitzpatrick.

Catani played well in the wet and slippery conditions at Nyora to record a solid 10goal win.
Leigh Jose provided a good target up forward and kicked seven goals.
Jarrod Milner and Michael Pendlebury both played outstanding games in the backline and created play down the ground. Phillip Strahan was creative all day and Kaine Wedlock enjoyed the opportunity of a run on the ball.
Alex Campbell and Bryce Cullen both did well in the ruck and around the ground. Other good players were Brent Ryan, Mark Cardamone, Anderson Edwards, Adam Ametovski and Daniel Kitchin.

Catani returned to the winners’ list with a big win over the undermanned Nyora.
The Blues dominated all game and were led by an outstanding 15goal performance by Russell Lehman, aided by Luke Failla, who was playing his 100th game for the club.
Other good players were Tom Hance, Michael Ralph, Dale Clark and Andrew Duff.

Catani came up against a more determined side at Nyora, going down by 24 points.
For three quarters the young Blues were outclassed by their opponents’ fast, running play.
Catani’s coach asked the team for a big effort in the final term and they responded by outscoring Nyora for the term.
Luke Hanegraaf was excellent with Cody Banbury and Justin Evans setting up two goals.
Other good players were Adam Burns, Krisopher Sabbatucci and Jake Patterson.
Scores: Catani 4.1.25 lost to Nyora 7.7.49.
