Second serve for tennis chief

THE West Gippsland Tennis Association held its annual general meeting at the Tynong Tennis Club recently and Paul Osborne was elected for his second term as president.
His executive will include secretary Dawn Wilcock, while longstanding WGTA administrator Rosemary Osborne will continue in the treasurer’s position.
Osborne congratulated all clubs and players on a very successful 12 months of local tennis.
He also thanked all sponsors for their support of the WGTA and committee members who helped with the smooth running of the association.
The summer season will start on 8 October for both juniors and seniors, with the Wednesday night competition getting underway on 5 October.
Any interested players should contact their local tennis club by 27 August if interested in playing competition tennis this summer. Alternatively Paul Osborne can be contacted on 5629 2121 for club contact numbers within the West Gippsland area.
Trafalgar Tennis Club was officially welcomed into the competition with the likelihood of entering two teams in the senior competition.
The WGTA will hold a major social function in the form of a presentation night after the grand finals on 4 March, 2006 to celebrate the end of the season.
All senior presentations will be made at this event as well as presentations to tournament winners and the interassociation team members.
The annual WGTA senior tournament will be held on the weekend of 29 and 30 October at the Tynong Tennis Club.
In conclusion the association executive wished all of its 19 affiliated clubs the best of luck for another successful year on the tennis court.
