Contract awarded for aquatic centre

THE City of Casey has awarded a contract for design of the Cranbourne Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the project would cost $28 million.
He said the centre would become the key fitness and recreation facility for residents of the southern part of the municipality in particular and the City as a whole.
“When added to the council’s current investment of $15 million into Casey Fields together with a further $15 million over the next eight years, the City of Casey will have developed the largest municipal sport and recreation precinct in Victoria.”
Key components of the centre will be a 50 metre, eightlane pool with moveable boom and seating for 250 spectators.
There will also the potential to add temporary seating for further 250 people.
A toddlers’ and young children’s free form pool with beach entry, a water play splash park and toddlers pool, leisure water area for older children and youth feature will also be features of the new centre.
Other facilities will include a hot water program pool including ramped entry, spa, sauna, steam room, weights, a cardio room and two multipurpose rooms for group fitness classes, pilates, yoga, functions, training, birthday parties, club meetings, massage, and relaxation areas.
