CASEY Council has placed its draft Road Safety Strategy on display for community comment.
Casey acting manager of community safety Caroline Bell said the fiveyear strategies replaced the existing plans developed in 1999 and would guide development of annual action plans.
Ms Bell said the two draft policies were similar to the council’s Municipal Fire Prevention Plan, with the accompanying annual plans and quarterly reports accessible on the Casey website.
“These draft strategies require a coordinated, community driven approach to help reduce the risk of harm to residents.
“Community engagement can contribute significantly to reducing the incidence of harm and injury within the municipality, and Council will continue to work closely with relevant committees and residents to address local safety issues.”
Community feedback on the draft strategies is due by 18 August 2006.
