Program goes from ‘strength to strength’

CASEY council’s YouthLinx program has received more than $108,000 in Commonwealth Government funding, according to manager of youth and community development Janette Green.
Ms Green said the program was going from strength to strength with the announcement of a range of initiatives for young people and their families for the next year.
YouthLinx provides early intervention programs for people aged 11 to 16 and their families to build selfreliance, strengthen family relationships and encourage community involvement.
Ms Green said Casey’s program offered educational and relationship building activities in supportive environments.
“These include motherdaughter camps and a homework support program,” she said.
“They are an ideal way for pre and early teenagers to learn skills that will help them develop through adolescence and maintain ongoing bonds with their families.
“One of the latest YouthLinx initiatives is a homework support program called School Stuff, which runs from 3.30pm to 5.30pm each Tuesday until 29 August at Cranbourne Library, 65 BerwickCranbourne Road.
“The initiative allows students to get help with subjects and projects, with plenty of space to study and fun activities to enjoy.”
Ms Green said snacks were also provided with computers available for use.
