A BUNCH of boys are leading the way for their school in an unlikely sport.
Beaconhills College entered five teams in the recent 2005 Victoria School Championships, held at the Waverley Netball Centre.
The school’s girl teams did well, but it was the success of the boys’ year seven and eight team that provided the highlight of the day, according to teacher Judie Rundle.
“The boys were undefeated, playing highly skilled and determined netball,” she said.
The Beaconhills boys are now aiming at the state title when they play off against the best in the business at the Victorian Netball and Hockey Centre on Thursday, 1 September.
Team members are Marcus Kleinert, James Ross Hayes, Brent Andrews, Daniel Silverstein, Michael Tomich, Josh Jell, Jackson Lucas, Leroy Thomas, Travis Holmes and Anthony Brownrigg.
Teams of students from year five and up competed against schools from all over the state at the championships.
“The spirit and sportsmanship shown by all the students and teams involved was outstanding,” Judie said.
