CLYDE basketballer Bryce Arnott has been selected to take part in Basketball Australia’s national development camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
The camp will be held from 17 to 20 August and it will provide a great opportunity for the 16yearold to work with the Australian Emus and Gems head coaches Marty Clarke and Dean Kinsman, together with Patrick Hunt and the National ITCP head coaches.
Australian team selections for the Oceania Youth Tournament in October will be made following the camp.
The Year10 student from Haileybury College will attend the camp with 67 upandcoming male and female athletes who have been invited from around Australia.
All attendees will be eligible for the 2009, 19andunder FIBA world championships.
State director of coaching from Basketball Victoria, Ross Wignell, said that it was a good chance for the best young prospects to gain experience at a high level.
“Basketball Australia is introducing a series of camps each year to develop athletes and coaches who are seen as having the potential to participate at an international level,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity for Bryce and I wish him and the other Victorians all the best.”
