BIGSPENDING Chelsea fell a game and percentage behind Peninsula League leaders Mt Eliza and Seaford after an upset sevenpoint loss to Frankston YCW on Saturday.
The Seagulls led at each change, but the Stonecats lifted, kicking four goals to two in the final term, with key big man Adrian Matthews dominating and giving his playmakers first use of the ball.
Mt Eliza retained its slim percentage lead at the top of the ladder with a 43point win over Karingal, while challengers Seaford had an easy day of it against lowly Bonbeach, winning by 125 points.
The day’s other results saw Hastings get off the bottom for the first time this year after downing Pines by 58 points and Mornington defeat EdithvaleAspendale by 65 points.
In Nepean League action, Pearcedale booked a showdown with Somerville for the final place in the top five next week, with a solid 44point result over Sorrento.
Late season Panther recruit Steve Raspin booted five goals for the Panthers, while his Sorrento counterpart Brent Kenyon ended the afternoon with seven majors.
Unbackable flag favourites Langwarrin smashed Tyabb by 121 points, while secondplaced Dromana downed Red Hill by a comfortable 40 points.
Frankston Bombers had an easy day of it against Rosebud, winning by 73 points and Rye was similarly impressive in its 113point demolition of Crib Point.
