BEACONHILLS College, Berwick, held a special afternoon on Friday 19 August to launch its You Can Do It program.
You Can Do It (YCDI) is a collaborative school, home and community capability building framework conducted at the college.
The college released decorated balloons to symbolise the life journey of each child and unveiled murals made by the students during a funfilled day.
Junior school head Judy Barton said YCDI founder Dr Michael Bernard spent many years working with students that demonstrated behavioural emotional and/or achievement problems.
Ms Barton said Beaconhills College teachers underwent training in the program.
“Beaconhills is committed to providing an environment where all students are supported to achieve their personal best.
“The focus of the school’s program is also on the allround development of each individual.
“YCDI will start in the junior school, with students making murals of each of the foundation strands of the YCDI program.
“These will form part of the special display unveiled at the launch.
“The program will soon be part of the curriculum at all levels of the college in middle, year nine, and senior school.”
The launch included viewing The Magic Inside, a motivational magic show, where a professional magician talked with the students about the real magic in life.
The magician discussed issues such as bullying, saying ‘no’ to drugs, setting goals, doing things they put their minds to, and learning from their mistakes.
