Tooradin in tight finishes

TOORADIN played close and exciting matches against Pakenham sides at the weekend, pulling off two wins.

B GRADE

Tooradin started with superb netball in a doordie match.
Controlled play took Tooradin to an early lead but, as the game progressed, both teams began to play erratic and desperate netball.
Despite the brilliance of Tooradin’s defensive duo Stacey McLeod and Carly Booth, Pakenham put more points on the board. With accurate goaling under extreme pressure by Holly Booth, Tooradin was able to stay in the game but went down by two goals.

C GRADE

Tooradin expected a tough game and no more than a couple of goals separated the teams throughout. Tooradin started strongly, taking the lead and staying in front at each quarter break. Jess Connell and Cris Rooke worked tirelessly, driving the ball into the ring. Goalers Fran Pecora and Alison Noonan were under a lot of pressure from physical defenders, but they overcame this to shoot accurately. Defenders Anneliese Van Rooye and Carla Hyde worked hard, combining well in the ring. A great team effort by Tooradin brought a onegoal victory.

17 AND UNDER

The top sides Tooradin and Pakenham clashed in a thrilling game. The defensive pressure of Megan Ellett and Emily Van Rooye was relentless, creating many turnovers. Sam Connell and Carla Colorafi played consistently and provided great backup for the defenders. Kim Attwood and Danni Ayers were great feeders for goalers Sarah Kernot and Holly Booth. The goalers were very accurate under pressure. The game went goal for goal until the last quarter when Tooradin steadied and make the most of every turnover opportunity. Booth’s accuracy in goals was outstanding in Tooradin’s fourgoal victory.
