THE girls of Cora Lynn B Grade took hard the 11goal drubbing dished out to them earlier this season by Nar Nar Goon.
So, they were champing at the bit last Sunday when they met their tormentors in an elimination final at home on Sunday.
The Cora Lynn players trained hard over the past eight weeks, with every member committing themselves to the team and each other.
Their intensity from the first whistle was incredible and, though Nar Nar Goon fought off attack after attack, Cora Lynn had its nose in front by two goals.
The home side lifted even more in the second quarter, chasing every loose ball, defending against every Nar Nar Goon pass with terrific pressure, and moving the ball around well in attack.
They made certain every pass hit the intended person and didn’t force the ball into the goal ring.
The game plan worked Cora Lynn was up by 11 goals at halftime and the girls were pumped.
Nar Nar Goon came out determined in the secondhalf, making many changes, but Cora Lynn continued the constant pressure and ran out winners by 13 goals.
Andrea Payne was voted best player but all Cora Lynn’s girls showed the ability to play as a tight unit to bring on success. Next Sunday they take on Buln Buln, at Poowong.
