Pakenham in control

PAKENHAM’S seniors were always in control and recorded a resounding victory against Devon Meadows.
The game turned into a goal feast with the Lions kicking eight goals in each of the four quarters.
Simon Ponter returned from injury with seven goals and Joe Allen continued his form with six majors as the leading goal kickers.
Joel Padley and Travis Murphy controlled the game at the other end of the game in defence.
John Atwell was lively all over the ground as he gathered possessions at will.
Overall, this was a great team effort as the side builds momentum for the business end of the year.

RESERVES

Playing Devon Meadows on their home turf, Pakenham knew it was in for a tough struggle and as predicted this was to eventuate.
With Pakenham three goals up at the last change the game could have gone either way, but the Lions kicked away to register a sixgoal victory.
The team has also sneaked into the five, where it hopes to stay if it can register a win over Dingley this weekend.
Craig Dyker continued his recent stellar form and was judged best afield.
Matt Ahern controlled the game from defence and was ably supported by Michael Casey in arguably his best game for the year.
Chad Ambrose was a helpful inclusion to the side as he gathered many possessions in the middle and Shane Laszczyk was lively up forward.

UNDER 18

The thirds started sluggishly but slowly started to work their way in to the game to outscore Devon Meadows in the last quarter.
But it was too little too late, Pakenham losing by 10 goals.
Alex Johnston again showed he had plenty of potential, as did Chris McKinlay.
John Higgins, Josh Howe and Clint Thomas all played credible games.
With no under 18 games scheduled against Dingley, this was the thirds’ last game for season and, as they have done all year, they fought the game out until the final siren.
The club thanked coach Michael Monckton and all his support staff for the tireless work they have contributed throughout the year.
