Cooper, Parkinson blitz field

JIMMY Cooper (19) and David Parkinson (13) blitzed the field to win Beaconhills’ Saturday 4BBB Par competition on the Lakes with 13+.
The runnersup were Ian McLean (12) and Jenny Hodges (20) with +11.
The Old Course winner of the stableford competition was Chris Hinchliffe with 40 points, while Tristan Nowak was the winner of the ninehole junior competition with nett 35.
On Sunday the members’ competition was played on the Lakes.
Barry Phillips (20) won the stableford event with 42 points.
The runnerup, on a countback, was 14yearold Matt Delves (20) who accumulated 40 points.
Midweek all competitions were played on the Lakes.
On Tuesday Bert Gruber (20) scored a win with 43 points.
On Thursday four players shared the lead with 42 points.
After the countbacks were done, Peter Wilson was declared the winner and Graham Kelly the runnerup from Les Johns and Wally O’Hara.
On Ladies’ Day Wednesday, the novelty theme ‘bad hair’ was used as a fundraiser for junior girls’ golf in the Mornington Peninsula District.
Some very imaginative hairstyles, wigs and temporary colours took to the course.
And for those who did not dress for the occasion, the windy conditions ensured all the players looked the part by the time they finished their rounds.
The sponsor of the day, Leiza Pugh from Hair Design, had products available in the clubhouse for remedial help.
The competition was an Irish Threesome, where the best two stableford scores of the team were counted each hole.
Winners were Nicki Charman (10), Anne Madigan (16) and Rosalie Leake (19) with 79 points.
Charman also won the A Grade Pro Pin, while Gillian Lewis was the B Grade winner.
Bev Eckhardt and June Biddle shared the nearest the pins.
