RESIDENTS training to become scout leaders will get a helping hand from Cardinia Shire Council.
Cr Graeme Legge last week won the support of his colleagues to make a $1000 contribution towards the cost of training new leaders for Cardinia district scouting groups.
Under Cr Legge’s plan, all seven councillors will give $143 out of their ward funds to help pay training fees. Cr Legge said it cost around $180 to train scout leaders so the council’s contribution would help produce four or five new leaders.
“It’s a very worthy cause, there are about 80 scout leaders in the Cardinia district,” Cr Legge said.
