GAMES were close and play was competitive in the Berwick and District tennis semifinals played in perfect conditions last weekend.
Preliminary finals will be played this Saturday at the venues listed.
All matches will be at neutral venues and if possible on neutral surfaces. If a match is not finished in the allotted time because of inclement weather, it will be completed on Sunday from 9am at the same venue except for Sections 13, 14, 16, 17 and 18 (see list of venues for details).
All teams are to provide one pair of associationapproved new balls, and the first mentioned team (deemed to be the home team) should supply a score card.
If a match is incomplete on Saturday, the home team shall retain the score card and phone the match status to scores secretary Barry Palmer.
The score card must be delivered to Palmer as soon as possible after the match.
All sets in all sections will have a tiebreak at six games all, and a conventional (advantage) deuce will apply.
There will be no drawn matches.
If at the end of the last set scores are equal, the match will be decided with a 12point tiebreak game.
In sections one to 13, each team manager shall nominate one player to play a singles tiebreak. In sections 14 to 18, each team manager shall nominate two players to play a doubles tiebreak.
