Lions out of the race

PAKENHAM reserves’ season is over after they, the only side representing the club over the weekend, went down to a more formidable side in Berwick.
The Lions were right in the contest until half time, managing to play some decent football in that time, but from there the wheels fell off and the side ended up going down by 10 goals.
Matt Ahern tried gallantly at the back and was judged best afield, Trent Fairclough played a tremendous doordie game for four quarters and Chad Ambrose and Craig Gordon never gave up all day.
In the backline Michael Casey was creative early and at the other end Sean Gramc kicked three goals while Alexander Johnston showed his promise with three goals of his own.
The club praised coach Justin Pearson and his support staff on getting the side into fifth spot after a sometimes difficult year.
The senior side and all of the netball teams will be in action this weekend.
