MEALS on Wheels has become a household term that is often taken for granted.
But Casey mayor Kevin Bradford noted Meals on the Run Day held on Wednesday, 30 August to thank Meals on Wheels volunteers and staff members.
He said the good work of the council’s staff and a large band of volunteers meant the service was appreciated by hundreds of people.
Cr Bradford congratulated all those involved in the service.
“The Casey’s Meals on Wheels service provided more than 41,500 meals last financial year, thanks to the efforts of our staff and 80 hardworking volunteers,” Cr Bradford said.
“I’m delighted that Meals on Wheels assists residents to help retain their independence and assist their health and wellbeing.
“It is fantastic that the service continues to assist so many residents and on behalf of the City of Casey I would like to sincerely thank all those who are part of this vital, community service,” he said.
