AFL legend to speak at expo

By Jim Mynard
AFL legend and 2006 Melburnian of the Year Ron Barassi will be keynote speaker at the Casey ageing positively festival’s Exploring Health and Wellbeing Expo.
The expo will feature workshops, stallholders and entertainment.
This will be the centrepiece of the 2006 Ageing Positively in Casey Festival to be held during the first fortnight of October.
Run by community groups, in collaboration with council’s ageing positively team, this year’s events include musical entertainment, information sessions, health and wellbeing programs, as well as comeandtry activities for sports, arts and crafts.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the ageing positively festival offered residents aged 55 and over opportunities to come together and celebrate life.
“There are events and activities to suit people of all abilities, and best of all, they’re all free,” said Cr Bradford.
“The expo will be held on Wednesday, 11 October at the Salvation Army in Cranbourne and bookings are essential by Monday, 2 October.
“Ron Barassi’s ability to motivate people through his clever, witty and highly inspirational speeches is renowned and we are honoured to have him as keynote speaker at the Health and Wellbeing Expo,” said Cr Bradford.
For a copy of the booklet detailing all of the Ageing Positively in Casey Festival events and activities, or to make a booking for the expo, contact City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200 or visit the council’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au/ageing positively.
