Brad takes the points at Drouin

AN excellent 44 points was enough to give Brad Hamill the Agrade win in the Stableford competition at Drouin Golf Club on Saturday.
Wayne Robbins also played an excellent round with 41 to come in runnerup in the field of 110.
Clint Hickford and Graham Austin were next on 37.
Scores in B grade were a step down from A grade John Robbins (handicap 18) the winner with 38 points from runnerup John Fusinato 37. Charlie Hardy was next on 36.
Rising junior Jack Henning (handicap 30) had another fine round to win C grade with 41 points from runnerup Josef Kawalko 40 and Ron Degering 37.
Nearest to pins second: Cameron Snell, 19th: Graham Austin, 23rd: Mick Lithgow.
Balls went down to 35 on a countback and the CCR was 73.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS

The Par competition was supported by 102 players.
John Wolswinkel (handicap 14) won A grade with the score of +2 on a countback from Angus McArthur. Wayne Devlin and Cleo Sahhar both returned with +1.
Mike Mareska (handicap 20) won B grade with +5 from runnerup Danny LaFrantz +4. Shane Gorman and Ian Dorsie both returned with +3.
Peter Andreasen (handicap 23) won C grade with +1. Runnerup was Rod Gardner, square, on a countback from Lester Smethurst.
Nearest to pins – second: Cameron Snell, fifth (propin): Max Hine, 14th: Brad Bennett.
Downtheline balls went to square on a countback and the CCR was 72.

THURSDAY RESULTS

Brian Kemp won the ninehole competition for seniors with 22 points from Con Norris 20 and Mike Roberts 19.
Olive Reid, Marg Mitchem and Val Johnson tied in the ladies section with 14 points each.

COMING EVENTS

This Saturday the club will host both a Par competition and the club mixed foursomes championships.
Players in the mixed must hit off between 9.3011am with all other times reserved for those playing in the individual Par.

LADIES

Tuesday, 12 September was a perfect day for 35 Drouin women golfers to contest the September monthly medal and the fourth round John Arnold Memorial Trophy. The CCR was 75 nett.
The winner of A grade and the monthly medal was Jill Brenchley with 76 nett. Runnerup was Ellyn Thompson with 79 nett. Bgrade winner was Betsy White with 77 nett and the runnerup on a countback was Lynette Thaw with 80 nett.
Nearest the pin on the 14th was Jenny Snape and on the 19th was Peg Hocking. The propin was won by Mary Tymensen.
Downtheline balls went to Mary Tymensen, Margaret Purcell, Di Baskett and Val Johnson, all on 80 nett.
The Thursday 9 hole Seniors Competition had three winners, Margaret Mitchem, Val Johnson and Olive Reid.
The West Gippsland Women’s Golf Association recently held its Singles and Seniors Championships at Drouin.
Drouin ladies were well represented, with Jill Brenchley winning the ninehole silver division with 39 1/2 nett and Ann Roberts winning the bronze division seniors scratch as well as the 18hole handicap with 75 nett.
Di Sullivan and Margaret Purcell won downtheline balls and new member Denise Greening had a nearest the pin.
This week’s event has been altered from Par to Stableford, sponsored by Fisher and Paykel and next week will be Stableford.
