BEACONSFIELD had its eye on the finals with good wins to its seniors, reserves and under18 teams against Keysborough on Saturday.
For the seniors and thirds the wins almost guarantee a topthree spot and the double chance, while the reserves must win every game for a chance in September.
SENIORS
After losing key players Ziesler and Charles to injury last week, the Eagles welcomed the return of Daniel Mislicki and David Williams after extended layoffs and three under18 players again stepped up to play senior footy.
The ground was in excellent condition, with only the turf wicket area suffering from the recent rain.
In a spirited opening, both sides were hard at the ball, but Beaconsfield held sway at the first break.
Mislicki left the field with what appeared to be a reoccurrence of a knee injury, while Clint Evans limped off with a foot problem.
The swirling wind was frustrating for players and spectators and the quality of the football suffered. The Eagles moved further ahead by the main break but were not showing their best.
With Justin Duffy playing a top game and Matt Kenny marking well on the forward line, only inaccuracy limited the margin at threequarter time.
A six goal to two final term gave the Eagles a 15goal win.

Against an undermanned Keysborough, the Eagles were able to dictate play for much of the day, increasing their lead at every change to run out 87point victors.

THIRDS
The Eagles were jumped by the Burra’s at their last meeting and were keen to make amends for that loss.
Again the Keysborough got off to a good start and took the early lead.
The Eagles fought their way to the front and were not headed after that although it was not until the final few minutes that a win looked certain.

CLUB NOTES
Round 16 on August 6 against Devon Meadows is the annual reunion for past players and officials.
The theme for the day is: ‘From the Forties to the Noughties’.
The club invites all past players and officials to attend and it is hoped there will be representatives from all seven decades present.
