OFFICER Cricket Club’s Agrade side had a good start to its season, defeating Pakenham comfortably by 136 runs.
Pakenham was bowled out for 171, but put the pressure on Officer with good batting early in the innings before Officer took 9/69 thanks to excellent spells from Shane White (4/22) and Daniel Savage (2/18) with Shaun Marchetti taking 2/35 from 10 overs.
Andrew Tucker took 1/46 and Kable Dowsett 1/45 with the new ball.
Officer batted again making 4/97 in 22 overs with Rod Zlonzak making his second 39 for the match.
Shaun Marchetti made a hardhitting 30 and Ben Baxter 18 not out.
A grade plays Emerald at Officer this week.
Man of the match from Shanikas went to Shane White, who completed a good allround performance in his first game back for the club for a number of years.
C GRADE
Officer started the season on a winning note with a 77run win over Gembrook that batted determinedly up to tea, with a score of 2/102.
Peter Quinn produced the goods with the ball to take 5/48 in 18 overs with James Quinn providing support with 3/56 off 14 overs.
Tony Smith picked up 1/0 in one ball to finish the game and also fielded well with two outfield catches.
Pat Tucker was tidy with the gloves with a catch and stumping.
Glen Longmuir took 1/32 and a catch and took a crucial wicket after tea as Officer got back into the game.
Peter Quinn won the man of the match award with a sensational allround game.
E GRADE
Officer lost narrowly to Pakenham UpperToomuc being bowled out for 103 chasing 127.
Wayne Danks led from the front with 28 not out, including three fours. Steve Darlow made 24, Jason Nicholson 12, Rob Burns 11, Jayden Bell 11 and Ross Harris five.
Officer then again did well with the ball to take 7/105 in 35 overs.
David Bachelor bowled with plenty of pace to take 2/28, Rob Burns had 2/8, Tom Bulenok 1/3 off four overs and Ross Harris 1/11 picked up his first senior wicket.
Ross Harris was man of the match.
F GRADE
Officer fought out a tight game with Cardinia in a oneday game at Officer.
Officer made 7/91 to Cardinia’s 2/124. Luke Beaumont batted superbly for 28 hitting a big six and Jayden Bell also looked in good form with his 21 with Michael Haughton scoring 11.
With the ball, Kerrod Bowman took 1/5, Michael Haughton 1/9 and Aaron Creek bowled well with the new ball, but without luck for 0/13.
UNDER 15
Officer fought it out against Beacy Saints being 8/59 with Jaydon Joyce making 25 not out and Matt Hutson 12 not out.
Toby Sherer also did well with five.
Beacy Saints 6/82 with Taylor Joyce taking 2/7, Nathan Carruthers 1/7, Tom Marks 1/4 and Toby Sherer 1/4.
Tom Marks, L. Hunter and Ben Martin all took catches.
UNDER 11
Officer played on Sunday and had a narrow win by four runs, 43 to 39 against Emerald.
Brendan Boon had a run out and Mitch Tivendale, Jessie Longmuir both had wickets.
Austin Gilbert batted well, as did Lachlan Porter and Jessie Longmuir, all getting amongst the runs.
The under 11s again play next Sunday, which will continue for two more weeks until daylight saving starts on 28 October with the following roundthree game starting on Friday nights.
Jessie Longmuir took 1/3, J. Mowbray took a good catch for the first wicket. Austin Gilbert batted solidly for five, Lachlan Porter made three. Mitch Tivendale took 1/1 and Adam White 1/2.
