Wayward Catani makes it through

CATANI fought back from semifinal defeat to win its way into a third successive grand final.
In a close preliminary final against Longwarry the lead changed several times in the first half and Catani faced a small deficit at the main change.
The Blues seemed to gain the upper hand in the third quarter but were unable to capitalise on this, missing several shots on goal. The game was still up for grabs in the last quarter. Catani still had the majority of the play and was not getting the results on the board they needed, but did enough to defeat a gallant and much improved Longwarry.
Poor kicking at goal, which brought Catani 13.21 to Longwarry’s 12.11, could have been costly and the Blues will need to improve to challenge Nyora.
Scores: Catani 13.21.99 d Longwarry 12.11.83.
Best: Josh Tymensen, Michael Stockx, Owen Fitzpatrick, Aaron Alger, Luke McFarlane, Brent Mounsey.

UNDER 13

The Blues forced their way into this week’s grand final with a solid victory over Buln Buln in the preliminary final. Catani put on a fine display of skills, teamwork and determination to win the ball.
The Blues got in front early and kept increasing the margin, leading seven goals to two at threequarter time. Buln Buln launched a fight back early in the last term with two quick goals, but that’s where it ended as the young Blues booted the final two goals to record a comfortable victory.
In the grand final Catani will meet Longwarry for the second year in a row.
Best: Cameron Hill, Luke Failla, Andrew Sabbatucci, Cody Banbury, Tom Keily, Andrew Duff.
