Cora Lynn gets better of Goon

IN A grade Cora Lynn came up against longtime rival Nar Nar Goon on Saturday and won a tough, close preliminary final.
In the first quarter Monique Helliar and Siobhan Ebert were on target, shooting their goals without a miss.
Letetia Ebert and Steph Curran were playing well through the centre, providing excellent drive, and Cora Lynn edged ahead by two goals at the first break.
The defensive lineup of Pam Cunningham, Biannca Featherstone and Bianca Beilby teamed well and made the Goon forwards earn every goal.
In the second quarter the Goon lifted and increased pressure on the Cora Lynn goalers, spoiling their accuracy.
By halftime the Goon had edged ahead by one goal.
Cora Lynn decided on changes that would turn out to be matchwinning, Katie Hogan coming on in goal defence, Ebert going to wing attack and Curran going to the centre.
Cora Lynn went up a gear and pressured the Goon goalers, cutting their accuracy.
This enabled Cora Lynn to regain the lead and by threequarter time Cora Lynn was ahead by four goals.
In the last quarter Hogan again dominated in defence and this unsettled the Goon goalers, enabling Cora Lynn to move further ahead.
Cora Lynn played out the quarter with great determination for the win.
