HILLCREST Christian College in Clyde has received a $400,000 Federal Government grant for construction of changerooms, toilets, a canteen, storeroom, and a generalpurpose learning area.
LaTrobe MP Jason Wood congratulated the college community for such an outstanding effort.
“My praise particularly goes to the school principal for demonstrating such commitment to the school,” he said.
“The Australian Government’s capital grants program for schools has a particular focus on improving the educational outcomes of educationally disadvantaged students.
“The Government will provide an estimated $33 billion in direct funding to schools and school students over the period 200508.
“A key element of this funding package is $2.7 billion for school capital works and infrastructure projects over the next four years, including an additional $1 billion committed in 2004.
“This clearly demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to improving educational standards in La Trobe schools,“ Mr Wood said.
