Grief

THE oneday program From Grief to Growth was held recently at the Living and Learning in Cardinia (LLINC) centre in Pakenham.
Despite the sensitive subject material, participants agreed it had been a successful day, saying the presenter’s presentation style took the ‘doom and gloom’ feeling away.
Jan Tully, manager of Tobin Brothers community education program, presented a program of changes and transitions throughout people’s lives.
“Although this was a confronting workshop it was thoughtprovoking and brings to realisation that there are a lot of different people dealing with grief for very different reasons,” she said.
The workshop also covered grief and the older person, assessing the impact of grief on the whole self, strategies to assist those in grief and strategies to assist ourselves as we support those dealing with change.
All participants agreed the workshop was informative as well as being easy to understand, and “the presentation was informing and well orchestrated”.
LLINC runs an ongoing support group for those dealing with grief every Wednesday morning and hopes to run another workshop in 2007. Phone 5941 2389 for further details.
