Search on for CEO

THE search is on for Cardinia Shire’s new CEO.
Executive recruitment specialist McArthur Management Services was commissioned by council to find a new leader after longserving CEO Don Welsh parted ways with Cardinia earlier this year.
Advertisements have been placed in metropolitan newspapers and recruitment websites seeking an “outstanding leader” who will – in partnership with council – “maintain the pace and direction of change”. Applications close today (Wednesday, 8 November).
Mayor Bill Ronald last week heaped praise on council’s acting CEO Garry McQuillan, saying the value of his contribution should not be underestimated.
Mr McQuillan was the shire’s financial manager before serving as interim CEO.
Speaking at a special meeting to release council’s annual report for 200506, Cr Ronald said Mr McQuillan had proven capable in the senior role. “In the 10 months he has been in the position, he has grabbed it with both hands and run with it,” Cr Ronald said.
