LANGWARRIN put in a flawless effort to dismiss Rye from the race for the 2005 Nepean League premiership and earned the right to challenge Frankston in next Saturday’s grand final.
The Kangaroos’ 35point victory was only sealed in the last 15 minutes of the tight final quarter after Rye appeared ready to mount a run at Langwarrin that had held the lead since the first term.
While the Demons had plenty of the ball, they could not convert, while burly Kangaroos’ spearhead Ricky Ramsdale took control at the other end and finished the day with seven goals.
Langwarrin players will need to put their comprehensive secondsemi final loss to the Bombers out of their heads and attack from the start if they are to reverse that result in the big game to be played at Rosebud.
In the Peninsula League second semifinal, Chelsea was given a 51point lesson by Mt Eliza and banished to next Sunday’s preliminary final against Frankston YCW.
The Seagulls stayed with the classy Redlegs for the first half, but Daniel Gormley and Justin Tarpey took control in attack and the Redlegs powered away to a 2005 grandfinal berth and a week’s rest.
