WITH several players missing, Merinda Park’s Agrade team fought hard to restrict Tooradin to 197 runs on Saturday.
The Cobras’ Shannon Mathers continued his good form with the ball to pick up 4/54 from 18 overs.
Junior Anthony Burr, playing in his first Agrade game impressed with the ball, taking 2/16.
Grant Mills returned for the Cobras to take 2/28 with Craig Boswell bowling very economically to take 1/9.
Jess Mathers bowled another long spell to finish with 1/62 from 21 overs.
In reply, the Cobras are 1/25 with Brett Armitage on 10 not out and Rod Morrison seven not out.
B GRADE
Also playing Tooradin, the Cobras had a good day in the field with only one catch going down and bowling Tooradin out for 100.
The main wicket taker was Cobra veteran Darren Smith, picking picked up 5/23 from 17 overs with another Cobra veteran Tony Clarke taking 2/4 from 3.1 overs.
Both Adrian Slater and James LaughlinGlen picked up a wicket each.
At stumps, the Cobras are in trouble at 3/11.
D GRADE
Highlight of the day in the Cobras match against Cardinia was a superb 124 not out by Andrew Syddall when his team was in trouble at 5/107.
He shared in an 82run partnership with Ron Hughes who making 54.
Jason Edwards also played well to make 24 and help the Cobras reach the total of 8/322 at stumps.
E GRADE
The Cobras were in a good position at one stage against Cardinia with the score on 2/86 at one stage, only to be bowled out for 150 just prior to stumps.
Robert Strang played one of his better innings to make 40. Dion Olszewski returned to form with 37 and in so doing passed 3000 runs for the club.
Junior Stuart Martin also played well to make 18 and Gareth Duff was 10 not out.
F GRADE
In a close game against Officer, the Cobras bowled the hosts out for 88 then made 8/95.
The better performances were from Gerard Healy with 34, Ben Pobjie13 and Mathew Cuthbertson 11.
With the ball, captain David Field was the star with 4/12 from his six overs.
Matthew Harper picked up 2/4 from two overs and David Spencer with 2/33 from six overs.
Marcus Beaver and Robert Clarke both picked up a wicket each.
UNDER 17
Playing Cardinia, the Cobras had a great day with the ball to keep the visitors to 9/68 by stumps.
Marcus Beaver was the star with the ball with 6/8 from eight overs. Andrew Martin with 1/10 from eight overs, Nathan Beaver with 1/12 from eight overs and Michael Theodoridis with 1/20 from eight overs were the other wicket takers.
UNDER 15 WHITE
It was a big day for the Cobras with the bat making 3/204 against Kooweerup.
Jason Pongracic, David Spencer and Matthew Pongracic all made 30 retired with Matthew Hughes making 29 not out and Simon Spencer 23 not out.
UNDER 13
The Cobras did well on Friday afternoon against Devon Meadows making 160.
An outstanding innings of 71 from Simon Spencer included two large partnerships of 62 with Jason Pongracic (30 not out) and 69 with Lesley Howell (8).
The Cobras were doing well at 0/62 until a dramatic batting collapse saw the team lose 8/20 to be 8/82.
The Cobras then recovered to make another 78 runs.
UNDER 11
In a close first innings, the Cobras made 47, with Kooweerup making 50 from its 20 overs.
Dinelka Balasuriya took two wickets in his first game with Brady Boswell, Lachlan Dalton, Ramith Satharasinghe, Caleb Boswell, James Jordan and Blake Glassborow all getting wickets.
Batting, Caleb Boswell, Ramith Satharasinghe and Lachlan Dalton all hit fours.
