Bridge work open for inspection

THE Bryn Mawr bridgeworks, Berwick, will be open for public inspection between 10am and noon on Sunday, 3 December.
The project manager and team will be available to answer questions about the project due for completion late next year.
The Federal Government funded the $10 million project through its AusLink Strategic Regional Program.
Casey Council is managing the project.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said the bridge would provide a vital link between Berwick and Beaconsfield.
He said associated works would generate significant travel benefits, particularly for motorists accessing two schools, Casey Hospital, Chisholm TAFE, Monash University, and Berwick Village shopping centre.
La Trobe MP Jason Wood said that once the bridge was completed the Soldiers Road extension over the railway into Bryn Mawr Boulevard would provide safer and more convenient access for northsouth vehicle movements.
Road works connecting Bryn Mawr Boulevard to Soldiers Road are about 600 metres and the fourspan bridge will be 85 metres long.
The road will have two lanes with a pedestrian and bike path on both sides.
The bridge has been designed to complement the environment and embankments will be landscaped, with storm water runoff from the road treated through a wetlands system on the north side of the railway line.
The approach embankment on the south side is 80 per cent complete and will be finished in late December.
The approach embankment on the north side of the railway line is 50 per cent complete and will also be finished in late December.
