Peter takes the trophy

PETER Hamilton played a solid final to win the prestigious Founders Trophy at Beaconhills Country Golf Club last week.
The trophy was established in 1952 and named for the foundation committee of 1947.
It is handicap stroke matchplay played between the best eight qualifiers and this year Peter won the trophy by defeating Ian Treadwell 3/2.

SATURDAY RESULTS

On Saturday, 27 August, Stableford competitions were run on both courses.
On the Old course, Terry Dyer won C grade with a handicap smashing 47 points, while 40 points secured A grade for visitor B. Francome and B grade for Don Argoon.
Mick Young won the Lakes competition with 39 points and Chris Broom (31) was the junior winner of the ninehole stroke competition with a nett 30.

SUNDAY RESULTS

On Sunday August 28, it was tight competition, with countbacks deciding all events.
Par was played on the Old course, with Matt Cornthwaite winning with plusthree on a countback to Wayne Franklin, who was runnerup on a countback.
In the fourballbestball Stableford mixed event, the winners on a countback were Wendy Norton and Brad Mars with 44 points.
No competition was played on Tuesday due to bad weather.

WEDNESDAY RESULTS

Eight qualifiers contested the spring classic and the four winners will continue the fight next week.
The majority of the field played Irish threesomes and the winners were Nicki Charman, Libby Anderson and Rosalie Leake with 70 points.
The propin winner for A grade was Anne Madigan and Gillian Lewis won B grade. Bev Eckhardt won nearest the pin on the third, while Marilyn Ford won the 18th.

THURSDAY RESULTS

The day saw the return of the popular wine lunch, with a group enjoying the chef’s repast while sampling reds and whites by the fire.
Par was the competition of the day and there were some excellent scores returned. Eric Wilson won A grade with plusfive and Franz Eckhardt won B grade with plussix.
