Maroons fight back

AN excellent 96run partnership by Jake Hackett and Adam Tagliaferro helped Nyora’s Bgrade side fight back and post a competitive 167 total against Tooradin on Saturday.
The Maroons then ripped through the Tooradin bats to have it 5/32 at stumps.
Nyora started slowly to be floundering at 5/26 after 14 overs, before Hackett and Tagliaferro took the score to 120.
Hackett fell for 50 and Tagliaferro for 35 and the tail waged with Kelvin Toogood and Paul Hendry putting on a valuable 36 for the ninth wicket before Toogood holed out for 18.
Paul Hendry (15) and Matt Hendry (10 not out) took the score to a competitive 167.
With 15 overs to bowl Nyora fought back to have Tooradin reeling at 5/32.
Matt Hendry (2/3 off six) and Andrew Collis (2/0 off two) were the destroyers with Adam Tagliaferro having an effective run out.
Nyora is confident of wrapping the game up early this week if the good bowling form continues.

Nyora won the toss against Merinda Park and batted and after last week’s good effort was disappointing being all out for 46.
Andrew Cavigan was the only batsman to reach double figures making 11.
Merinda Park passed Nyora’s score in the 19th over for two wickets.
At stumps Merinda Park was 6/152. Drew Breen took 2/45 off 11, Dean Russel 2 for 18 off six and Andrew Cavigan 2/18, also off six.

Nyora lost the toss against Merinda Park and was asked to bowl.
The first wicket didn’t fall until the 15th over and on a quick ground Merinda Park made 5/239.
The only good bowler for the day was Chris Mitreski with 2/37.
Many dropped catches cost Nyora badly and it is in for a 239 chase.
The openers Daniel Kerrison and Brendan Green batted well, making 29 and 35 respectively.
Lee Cleary came on, faced one ball and was sent back for a golden.
Ben White made 21, Chris Mitreski 17, Leigh Jose 12.
Mick Huglin came in and with Chris Simmons put on an excellent partnership – Huglin made 20 and Simmons.
Daniel Morgan after fielding well made three in his first game of cricket.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 17

Nyora got off to a slow but steady start against Tooradin.
Luke Ferguson and Jake Hackett both hung around until after drinks at 20 overs.
Ferguson retired on 50 and Hackett 51.
This brought Billy Hayes to the crease and after a quickfire 12over onslaught retired on an impressive 50.
Nyora ended on a good score of 3/179, making it tough for Tooradin this week.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 13

KilcundaBass won the toss and batted.
Nyora bowlers were on top straight away removing the top six batsmen with the score at 55 and then the tail wagged with KilcundaBass all out for 106.
Best of the bowlers was Gavin Hackett (2/7), Mason Lambert (2/7) and Jema Ellams (2/10).
Catches to Gavin Hackett (three), Jack Strybosh (one) and a good throw by Jade Ellams for a run out.
There was some very straight bowling resulting in five batsmen being bowled.
