Fight violence with ribbons

SOROPTIMIST International Berwick (SIB) members will be selling white ribbons this Saturday as part of a worldwide campaign to end violence against women.
SIB president Ann Beauchamp said as part of White Ribbon Day hundreds and thousands of people across the globe would wear a white ribbon as a pledge to help end violence against women.
“More than half Australian women will experience an incident of physical or sexual violence by a man in their lifetime.
“More than 30 per cent of women will experience abuse in a relationship in their lifetime,” she said.
Ms Beauchamp said Soroptimist International Berwick was supporting this day by selling white ribbons at $2 each.
“Wearing a white ribbon indicates that we believe violence against women is unacceptable.”
Ribbons are available at Skinsational, 38 High St, Berwick, and Drysdale’s Family Jewellery, Blackburn Square, Berwick.
