$15,000 already for relay

By Jim Mynard
CASEY Cardinia Relay for Life already has more entries than last year with three months before the big event on the first weekend in March at Akoonah Park, Berwick.
The committee has already raised more than $15,000 with teams from Pakenham, Narre Warren, The Basin, and Emerald registered.
Akoonah Park management has made the new pavilion available for the event to provide shelter and more facilities, including toilets and a catering area.
Relay for Life is a worldwide and growing organisation that raises millions of dollars for cancer research.
The committee would like to hear from volunteers to help with the Akoonah Park event, particularly a facilities coordinator.
The relay event will remember those lost to cancer and provide support for those living with the disease.
Relays begin with candlelit bags lining the relay track that carry messages of love and support and twinkle as they burn away during the night.
Relay walkers and runners will be on the track throughout the night.
Further information is available from Deborah Ditchburn on 0412 850 257.
