New dinghy for sail program

THE Lysterfield Sailing Club Sailability program, designed for people with a disability, will be expanded.
Casey Council has provided $4726 to help the club acquire a new dinghy.
Casey deputy mayor Kevin Bradford said the unique concept of a Sailability access dinghy is the ease with which it steers.
He said simple controls to coordinate the rudder and sail provided a straightforward approach for individuals or pairs to sail within the supported environment of Lysterfield Lake.
“The program is offers people with a disability, particularly those who have limited mobility a chance to enjoy sailing,” he said.
Cr Bradford acknowledged the volunteers whose dedication, commitment and passion for sailing helped people with a disability to participate.
