BEACONHILLS College year five French students decided to run an imaginary cafe based on their first semester French curriculum.
This involved the introduction of food and drink, vocabulary and cafe/restaurant conversation.
Many practical activities were encouraged and students wrote scripts and practised roleplays at this cafe, playing waiters and customers. Menus were also designed.
But, this developed further and the cafe became real and Cafe Escargot was born.
Ordering in French was encouraged and menus contained all the necessary vocabulary for cafe customers.
Cafe Escargot turned out to be very popular, with many customers turned away due to lack of room and more than $100 was raised for the Starlight Foundation.
