PLANS to hold an athletics carnival for young people in Casey have been put on hold.
Springfield Ward councillor Michael Farley in August asked for a report on the concept of a statewide athletics carnival for young athletes.
Casey manager of arts and leisure Robyn Bowen told council that officers discovered concerns about the idea.
She said Casey did not have an appropriate venue or resources to host a statewide athletics carnival.
“In consideration of the development of a regional athletics facility at Casey Fields, Cranbourne, it is recommended that consideration of the carnival be deferred pending that development,” Ms Bowen said.
She said that once the facility was developed officers could present details of the level of resources required to effectively host such an event.
