BEACONHILLS Country Golf Club has a new captain – Peter Lockman.
He was elected at the club’s annual general meeting on 5 December and said it was a great honour to lead a great club.
He also paid tribute to outgoing captain Ian Hollingsworth.

The winning scores were 42 points in all three grades on the Lakes course.
Greg Seymour, Doug Lapthorne and Wayne Johnson won A, B and Cgrades respectively.
Winner in the smaller Old course competition was Mark Pilav with 39 points.
The junior ninehole winner was Tristan Nowak with 45/30.

As temperatures soared over 40 degrees on Sunday, so did the scores.
Eddy McSorley’s Stableford 45 points won him the competition from runnerup Mark Johnson, who scored 44.

These were all played on the Lakes.
Tuesday’s winning score was 39 points. A countback was needed to separate Dennis Crowley and Alan Cockram, with Dennis getting the final nod.
Thursday’s Par competition saw Eric Wilson’s +6 win him Agrade, while Frank Unsworth’s +5 secured him Bgrade.

The summer competition has begun with Nancy Cockram and Jean Fellowes organising an informal 13hole competition until next year’s opening day.
Bev Eckhardt was the winner of the first week’s competition and was excited to smash the 40 barrier for nine holes.
