Tennis champs at Pakenham

ON Sunday, 10 December the Pakenham Tennis Club held its annual club championships for the juniors as well as the senior finals.
These were held in conjunction with the Christmas party and a visit from Santa.
A wide range of junior players competed in the hot conditions playing a number of singles matches.
Sam Hall, 14, playing his first season for the club, won the junior boys singles event with a win in the grand final over 13yearold Brendan Herman.
The girls’ event was also strongly contested with trainee coach Kirsty Williams defeating fellow trainee coach Emily Dillon in the final.
All four finalists were awarded trophies.
In the senior event, club coach Paul Osborne defeated assistant coach Dave Desiatov in the men’s singles while Dani McQuillen defeated Robyn English in the ladies event.
Paul Osborne and Kira Desiatov won a thrilling match 7/5 in the third set over John Gallasch and Dani McQuillen in the mixed event.
This week sees the final week of the Tuesday and Wednesday night comps as well as the final round of the Saturday junior and senior match for the year.
If anyone would like further information on tennis coaching or the various competitions the Pakenham Tennis Club has to offer during 2007 contact Paul Osborne on 5629 2121.
